Welcome to the Hopewell Youth Association. The founders of this program built it on a philosophy that includes words like character, responsibility, sportsmanship and teamwork. The Board of Directors at Hopewell and all of our coaches continue to work to teach our children the game of baseball and all the valuable life lessons that can be learned while playing the game.
Enjoy the site and if you ever have any questions please contact us through the Feedback link on the left of this page.
Hopewell Baseball has teamed up with Fellowship of Christian Athletes for their annual MIDDLE SCHOOL Inner City Atlanta equipment drive. Through this program, we are providing professional instruction, paid coaches, all equipment, uniforms and organized competition to 6th-8th grade young men at no cost to them or their families. More importantly, we are providing life lines, hope, direction and love to these young men.
On March 6th "Opening Day" of Hopewell Baseball we are asking all families that have any extra Baseball gloves and/or bats appropriate for middle schoolers they can donate to this mission to bring them to the park. We will have an equipment drop off area located at the picnic area by field 3. We sincerely appreciate your support of this mission.
If you have any questions please contact Craig Furr at 770-616-5135.
Welcome to the 2010 Spring Baseball Season with the Hopewell Youth Association!
This season we will field 61 youth teams with children ranging from age 4 to 15. We've already had our coaches meeting, skill assessments and the league drafts. Our coaching clinic is this coming weekend, and we will provide professional coaching to all of the teams at Hopewell. This is the first year of our official relationship with Auterson Baseball. If you want more information on Jeff Auterson and his group check out www.autersonbaseball.com.
The Board of Directors is very excited about a number of changes you'll see this spring. Around the fields you will notice; new 50’ bases on Field #3, a new hand railing from the parking lot at Field #1 and the scoreboards were moved on Fields #1 and #2 for better viewing from the stands. We’ve also made some changes at the concession stand in an effort to provide our families with more of a variety. You will see new items including Domino's Pizza and plenty of healthy choices from Harry's Farmer's Market. Enjoy!
This season also marks a renewed fundraising effort. HYA is a unique youth sports program in that all costs are supported by registration fees and donations and most park improvements are paid for by HYA directly without city or county government support. Our first major fundraiser is the First AnnualCasino Night. Please register for the event at our website, www.hopewellbaseball.org. This event will be in high demand, and we expect it to sell out. The cost is $100/couple and includes free play at gaming tables and one entry into a no-limit hold-em poker tournament. Food, beer and wine will be provided free of charge and there will be door and raffle prizes, a silent auction and much, much more. Don't miss the event of the year! Sign up today.
All of our teams will also be participating in our basket fundraiser. Each team mom will be organizing the team basket with our park mom. All proceeds from the event will go to HYA and to our kids. The baskets will be raffled off as part of Hopewell Day which will be the first Saturday of our in-park tournament.
Finally, the board of directors would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to teach your children the sport baseball and all of the valuable life lessons that can be learned while playing the game. We truly believe our park is different. There is a family atmosphere that is palpable. We are so pleased to have all of you as part of the family. If you see a board member at the park, please take time to say hi. And if you'd like to get involved, we're always looking for more help. Please let us know, or submit an application at our website.
The Hopewell Youth Association is proud to announce the 2010 "Casino Night Fundraiser". Please save the date Friday April 16, 2010 for this exciting event. The HYA board of directors has already booked the Crooked Creek Clubhouse and Avalanche entertainment for the big night. The evening will include a No-limit Hold-em poker tournament along with play chips for blackjack, craps and roulette. Food, drink and music will also be provided along with much much more. Registration details and additional information will be provided in coming weeks.
Proceeds will be used to support the Hopewell Youth Association and it's youth baseball program.
Please contact if your company is interested in getting involved in this great fundraiser.
HYA is pleased to announce that the 9/10 age group will be separated into 2 different leagues for the spring 2010 season. We believe that this will provide a better experience for players in each age group. This will also provide a smoother transition for the 9 yr old players as they begin to learn the elements of kid pitch baseball. We are excited about this change and look forward to your feedback.
The Hopewell Board of Directors would like to announce a new program with Verizon Wireless beginning 11/5/09. This new arrangement will provide proceeds back to HYA for sales activity that occurs anytime someone clicks through the Verizon Wireless logo on our home page and places an order on the Verizon Wireless website. This works for new and existing customers of Verizon Wireless. So, if you plan to purchase wireless service or accessories, be sure you always click through that link first! And even if you’re an AT&T customer, you can still buy that hot new Bluetooth headset at the Verizon Wireless site!
The proceeds from this program will go directly back to HYA, so that we can continue to improve the experience at Hopewell for the kids and families of our program. This program is only available for sales activity on the Verizon Wireless website and cannot be offered in Verizon Wireless stores.

The HYA Board of Directors has received a great deal of feedback regarding the recent banning of bats in our park. We have spent countless hours in an effort to adopt a rule that is in the best interest of our kids and at the same time is consistent and fair for all involved.
It has become clear to our organization that the manufactures of youth baseball bats are constantly changing the way they market and produce certain models. Therefore we are making a change in our policy that will pertain directly to the size and weight of the bats rather than to specific brands or models. HYA Recreation League Bat Rule (effective Fall 2010) –
9u and older age groups: HYA allows any 2 1/4” bat printed with a Bat Performance Factor (BPF) of 1.15 or approved by Little League Baseball. Little League Baseball publishes their list of approved non-wood bats at: http://www.littleleague.org/Learn_More/equipment/approvedequipment/Bats_Non-wood.htm In addition players (league age 9 and older) may choose a bat with a barrel up to 2 3/4” that has a drop of –8 or less (drop is the difference of bat length – bat weight) ex. A 30” bat that weighs 22 ounces has a –8 drop. Any big barrel bat with a –8.5, -9, -10, or greater drop is not allowed for recreation league play at HYA.
* 2 1/4” bats that do not have the BPF or Little League stamp should be checked against the list of approved Little League bats
Because we are making a change so soon after limits were originally set, this rule will not be strictly enforced until the beginning of the 2010 Fall Recreation League season. We are allowing the “grandfather” season this spring because of our abrupt change and our understanding that many parents already purchased bats with the idea that we would not be making a change this quickly. So again, the new bat rule will be encouraged for the upcoming spring season and strictly enforced starting in the Fall of 2010. Our current rule will remain in effect until that time.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter. This is an important step for our park. We again apologize for the vacillation on this issue, and hope you understand that the Board of Directors is always taking into consideration what is in the best interest of our kids and the best way to teach them the game of baseball.
The Hopewell Youth Association is proud to announce we have formalized our relationship with Auterson Baseball. Jeff Auterson and his team of coaches has been a part of what we do at Hopewell for many years. His group will be involved with practices for all recreational and advanced baseball teams at HYA. They also run a certification seminar for our coaches each season. And there are some new and exciting things in the works for the very near future. Please check out details on Jeff, his team and his program at www.autersonbaseball.com.
To provide time for families to plan accordingly, the HYA Board of Directors would like to announce that beginning in the fall of 2009 our park will maintain a list of banned bats for all recreational teams through and including the 11/12u's. The list currently includes, but will not be limited to, the Worth Prodigy, Rawlings Plasma/Rush and Louisville Omaha Composite Coach Pitch big barrel (2 3/4 in.) bats. This list can be adjusted at the discretion of the Board of Directors and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. The official banned bat list will be posted in the Documents section of the Hopewell website and any updates to the list will be communicated to our members.
