Important Dates (NOTE: This is a draft schedule and subject to change.

  • Aug. 14 - Rec Assessments and Uniform Fitting
  • Week of Aug. 15 - Teams Drafted and Players Notified of Team by Head Coaches
  • Aug. 22 - Practice Starts for Rec.
  • Sept. 10 - Opening Day (First Games)
  • October 24 - Tournament Start (Pool Games) 
  • Nov. 5 - Championship Games/Team Trophy Presentation/End of Fall Season
  • Nov. 6 – Spring 2021 Rec Registration Opens
  • Nov. 6 - Winter Program Starts

Programs Offered

All programs, except mini-hitters, will have a minimum 2 events per week, 1 weekday and 1 Saturday. Season is roughly split into 3 parts. The first part is 2 practices; the second part is 1 weekday practice and 1 weekend game. The last part is 1 weekday game and 1 weekend game. Teams with odd number of teams will have 2 games instead of 1 during some weeks.

  • 4U (Mini-Hitters) - Introductory Program that includes clinic style practices and short games that build up to mini-hitters graduation in a full field game. Players receive full unifotm and mini-hitter graduation trophy. Teams meet 1 day per week, for 1 hour and 15 minutes, usualy on Sunday afternoons. Program starts 2 to 3 weeks after regular rec program to get the proper number of events for players of this age.

  • 7U Coach Pitch - Game Play Rules
  • 8U Coach Pitch - Game Play Rules
  • 9U/10U Kid Pitch - Game Play Rules
  • 11-13U Kid Pitch - Game Play Rules
  • 13U-16U Kid Pitch - Game Play Rules
  • NOTE: 13U Players can choose to play in the 11-13U or 13U-16U league. Advanced 13U players should play in the upper league. 16U players will be required to use wood bats.
  • Fall Select Tournament Teams - We will continue offering Select tournament teams for ages 9U-12U. These are designed for players that would like to play additional advanced baseball in the Fall, but plan to tryout for Select or play in the recreation league in the Spring season. Tryouts will be conducted and communicated for these teams.

Ages for baseball and softball leagues are calculated differently, based on the current year age cutoffs by Dizzy Dean Baseball.

  • Baseball ages for the 2022-2023 season are based upon player age as of April 30, 2023. 

NOTE: Mini-hitter graduates are eligibile to play-up to 5U regardless of age. Also, 5U players can choose mini-hitters over 5U program and non-MH graduates are eligible to play 5U by request to the league president (president@hopewellbaseball.org).
